FABRIC BADGES BY BELINDA ASHE, REPETITION

Happy New Year all!  

Our first post for 2014 comes from the lovely Belinda Ashe for our theme of 'Repetition'.  Thanks Belinda, thanks Belinda, thanks Belinda!  (get it?!) 

Story:This year David and I decided to give homemade gifts to our family and friends. Here is a collection of vintage fabric badges made from the fabric that used to cover the 1970's library folders of the Australian Boys Choir. These badges were given to the music staff and parent volunteers of the Choir as a thank you for all of their hard work during the year.

VOTE GREEN ON SKIRT GUARDS BY BELINDA ASHE AND DAVID DUNCAN

David and I got creative when we were told from several stores that skirt guards for bikes no longer existed! We used an old 'Vote Greens' corflute board and some cable ties. It is practical and creative!

TARAX CREAMY SODA BY BELINDA ASHE

I was allergic to everything as a child. So there were a few special treats afforded to my brother and I, as we had to forgo standard household staples like ice-cream, green cordial and those pickled gherkins in a jar. My favourite treat was the now (sadly) unavailable Tarax Creamy Soda from a can, not a bottle (they taste different!!). You could buy them in a slab of 24 cans and the flavour is still far superior to anything you can purchase in supermarkets today.
